Quick Sketches

Sketchbook page from the other day. It was sunny and hot and we went for a walk around the neighborhood. Everytime we stopped in an area the kids liked to play in I would try drawing something in that area.

On this day we have a dandelion patch, some blossoms, a neighbors house and a random building.

The best part is the scribbles on the right hand side. My daughter saw me drawing and asked if she could draw too. We would take turns drawing.

Two lessons I learned from this:

1) Take a clicky pen for easy sketching (no risk of losing a cap)

2) I can feel creatively fulfilled in these little moments while also setting boundaries (I told her she can draw but she has to stay on the one side and we would take turns). I like to think I get to sit and draw and she gets to feel connected, draw herself and maybe one day she’ll want to carry her own sketchbook when we go out).
